How cold is too cold?
This is the rule of thumb I use: seven zero seven.
- Seven degrees and below is already cold for dogs and depending on their fur, a sweater may be needed.
- Zero degrees and below is too cold for them to be out for long.
- Negative seven degrees and below is when they are vulnerable to hypothermia and frostbite.
For a more in-depth (and scientific explanation): tractive gives a good one.
App for dog-sitters and walkers.
I came across Rover, the app when looking for someone to dog sit when I (on the off chance) go somewhere that doesn’t allow dogs. Would you believe I actually interviewed dog sitters? I was essentially just looking for someone who was as obsessed with Lexi as I am.
The app is great as it allows you to find people nearby, it is peer-rated reviewed, and you can find someone that matches your needs and pay expectations.
You also don’t have to go offline to another platform so you can chat, book, and pay right through the app.
DNA test
If you’re anything like me and want to find out absolutely everything there is to know about your fur baby (especially if they’re a mix or a rescue like Lexi) then I could not recommend getting a DNA breed test more. I personally used Embark and it was such a special experience. Not only do you get to find out about their ancestral heritage and their mix, but Embark also links you to other Embark DNA that are relatives of your dog!
